Sometimes, our friends and neighbors can inspire us to improve. Of course, this does not mean we copy, but we do take inspiration from them. Recently, Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Clearwater & Tampa Bay acquired a new client through such a situation. While we were completing a job for one client, a neighbor noticed our work and called. This new client had an outdoor lighting system in place, and it was a very large system. Unfortunately, many fixtures were no longer working, leaving portions of the property quite dark. On inspection of the system, we found many of the
fixtures were corroded. As we mentioned a couple weeks ago, corrosion is an every day occurrence in our area. Our salt air eats at many items exposed to the elements. And it had certainly eaten away at this client’s fixtures, causing them to stop working.
Because this system was so large, we decided, with input from our client, that it would be best to upgrade in phases. We are currently upgrading 14 of their 40 fixtures to resilient BB-03 well lights. These fixtures are made of PVC, which is immune to corrosion, and they will also use LED bulbs, which will cut our client’s energy consumption and save money. Upgrading your outdoor lighting does not have to happen all at once. Sometimes, it is best to tackle this improvement in phases. After all, some of your fixtures may be working beautifully. Retrofitting fixtures with LED bulbs is becoming more popular with homeowners. Many halogen fixtures are designed so they can be upgraded to burn LEDs. As long as your transformer and wiring is in good condition, we can convert your old fixtures to LED with just a few simple steps.
If you are upgrading in phases, it can sometimes be helpful to know which fixtures you should be focusing on. We can point you in the right direction. Obviously, burned out fixtures need attention, but some that aren’t burned out can still benefit from an upgrade. And just a little change can make a big difference in the look of your home. For example, replacing a smaller well light with a larger one can illuminate a larger area. This could create a much more striking visual if a tree has grown since the system was installed. In this case, you are not adding more lighting to your system, which could put your transformer in jeopardy. Instead, we have simply maximized the lighting you have. If you do want to add fixtures but are concerned about your transformer, LEDs can be a good option because they do not use as much voltage as their halogen counterparts.
Whatever your upgrade needs, Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Clearwater & Tampa Bay has the
expertise and experience you need. We believe in quality. From our fixtures to our workmanship, it is just as much a part of our daily lives as corrosion is in our area. If you believe it is time to upgrade your outdoor lighting system, contact us today.
