Nighttime is the most enchanting part of the day. The moon shines white against the dark blue sky,
and the stars twinkle so they almost appear to have a pulse. No wonder ancient humans thought they were alive. At night, mood changes while the world falls asleep. Noise lessens, night birds sing, and a sense of calm descends around us. Millennia ago, our ancestors learned how to live in harmony with the night. They built fires, lit torches, and eventually invented the light bulb. The light that humans have created from fire and electricity has long given us an advantage over other species. We are able to function day or night and are now neither diurnal nor nocturnal. Because of our ability to create light, the night is ours.
At Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Clearwater & Tampa Bay, we are proud to be carrying on work so similar to that of our ancient ancestors when we install outdoor lighting systems here in the area. Though the mechanisms to produce light have evolved, the effects of that production are still the same.
- Visibility – While the moon and stars provide some light at night, human eyes fall short when compared to those of nocturnal animals. Owls, for instance, possess a keen sense of sight with minimal illumination, but humans don’t. As a result, we have had to create light in order to see in the dark. Outdoor lighting provides the visibility needed to use our outdoor spaces at night, whether that is for rest, a party, or even work.
- Safety – Closely related to visibility, safety is another important effect of outdoor lighting. With it, we are able to see obstacles that might lie in our paths and thus avoid trips and falls. But safety also includes crime prevention. Invaders, most often, seek out shadowed properties. If the area is dark, it is much easier for an invader to enter, take what he/she wants, and escape without being noticed. The mere presence of outdoor lighting can be all the incentive some vandals need to find another target.
- Beauty – Remember earlier when I said that nighttime is the most enchanting part of the day? This is true because ordinary objects take on an extraordinary look when normal daylight fades and light changes. The characteristics of familiar objects seem to transform. They just look different. Outdoor lighting capitalizes on this phenomenon. By differentiating a fixture’s position from the normal light source (the sun) and carefully orchestrating the interaction of different light sources (all the fixtures), we are able to unlock beauty that can only be revealed through outdoor lighting. This beauty rivets, mesmerizes, enchants, and enthralls.
Saying “The night is ours” implies that we master it rather than the other way around. If we choose to remain outdoors once the sun has surrendered to the moon, we can do so. Our ancestors accomplished this with fire and torches. Now, we do it with low voltage transformers, buried wiring, and high quality fixtures.
So contact Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Clearwater & Tampa Bay. We relish the opportunity to make your property visible, safe, and beautiful, and we take that job seriously. Claim the night. It your birthright passed down from the first human to rub to sticks together until they ignited. The night is ours, and the night is yours.
