The holiday bustle is picking up, and in just one week, it will be in full swing. Decorations are beginning to pop up everywhere – in stores, the mall, and a few homes too. Here at Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Clearwater & Tampa Bay, we have been very busy designing, prepping, and even installing outdoor holiday lighting. This year, many of our clients have been amazed at the multitude of options they have when it comes to the components of their Christmas lighting design. It’s an exciting year for holiday lighting because 2013 really is all about options.
So what are some of your options this season?
- White Lights – White lights never go out of style, and they are by far our most popular. For a traditional look, our clear C9 strings are the best. Highlighting the eaves of your home and shedding clear light on your decorations, for many homes, they just can’t be beat.
- Colored Lights – Believe it or not, colored lights are making a comeback this season. In most cases, that does not mean people are using strands of multicolored lights. (Though if you decide to turn your home into a gingerbread house this year, such an approach might work well.) Most who choose colored lights are sticking with one color, and blue seems to be the most popular. With their cool color, blue lights go far in creating a winter wonderland on your lawn, even without real snow. Icicles, ornaments and snowflakes are good complementary decorations. If you really want to use multiple light colors, try sticking with two, like a red and white or red and green. Such a scheme is reminiscent of candy canes and is a good complement to some properties.
- Starbursts – These 3-D creations bring the stars right down into your front yard! Composed of the lights used in our strands, starbursts can be placed in your trees or on stakes. Because stakes allow them to be placed most anywhere in your yard, they can bring festivity to areas that might otherwise be unreachable by holiday lighting strands.
- Colored Lens Covers – Did you know the clear lens covers in your outdoor lighting system’s well lights can be changed out for colored ones? They can, and
red or green covers can really enhance holiday spirit on the lawn. They are easy and quick to install and don’t require any additional wires or cords. We just pop them in. Bathing trees and architectural features in holiday colors will decorate them even if you don’t hang decorations. Of course, if you want to add decorations and the colored lens covers, that’s fine too.
So what potential does your property have to be the most outstanding home on the block this holiday season? Amazing potential. Using the options above (these are the most popular) and many more, your home can turn heads, incite cheer, and craft memories.
